COVID Support Line and Email
A COVID Support Line and Email is available at 614-823-1586 or email@example.com for faculty, staff and students to ask questions and report information related to COVID-19. You must contact the COVID Support Line if you have tested positive, have been exposed to someone with COVID, or have COVID symptoms. You may also contact the COVID Support Line if:
- You are concerned about incidents in which members of the Otterbein community are not following safety guidelines; or
- You have other COVID related concerns or general questions.
Otterbein COVID-19 Dashboard
As we work through the phases to bring more people back to campus, we have launched a new tracking tool — the Otterbein COVID-19 Dashboard. It is available on the Return to Campus website. The dashboard will be updated weekly on Tuesday and includes weekly COVID-19 testing and positive cases data, as well as cumulative data with the effective start date noted. Data for students comes both from on-campus testing and self-reported positive results of tests conducted off campus. Data for employees comes from self-reported positive results of tests conducted off campus.
Reporting Positive COVID-19 Test Results
Please be aware that if you test positive for COVID-19 through an off-campus provider, you must inform Otterbein. Students must contact the COVID Support Team at 614-823-1586 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Employees must contact Director of Human Resources Scott Fitzgerald at email@example.com. Facial Coverings: What You Need to Know
Facial Coverings Indoors and Outdoors: As Cardinals return to campus, please remember that students, faculty, staff and visitors are required to wear a facial covering in classrooms and other common spaces indoors, if it is safe to do so. In compliance with the direction from Franklin County Public Health, facial coverings are required outside when in more-than-passing proximity to another person who is not already exposed to you. In other words: walking alone or with a roommate/family member does not require a facial covering; stopping to talk to others requires a facial covering and social distancing. For information about exemptions from wearing a facial covering on campus, go to oiaac.com/rtc.
Wear it Correctly: To be effective, a facial covering must cover your nose AND mouth. This is the one of the best ways to protect others in case you’re infected with COVID-19 but don’t have symptoms. The CDC offers the following guidelines for wearing a facial covering correctly:
- Wash your hands before putting on your facial covering.
- Put it over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin.
- Try to fit it snugly against the sides of your face.
- Make sure you can breathe easily.
Quarantine v. Isolation: What’s the difference?
You will see the terms quarantine and isolation used in many of our communications. So what’s the difference? Here’s what the CDC says:
Isolation and quarantine are public health practices used to protect the public by preventing exposure to people who have or may have a contagious disease. Isolation separates sick people with a contagious disease from people who are not sick. Quarantine separates and restricts the movement of people who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick. These people may have been exposed to a disease and do not know it, or they may have the disease but do not show symptoms.

Update to Internship Protocol
Students who plan to complete an internship off campus will be required to complete the “COVID-19 Off Campus Experience Agreement” form indicating their understanding of the university’s guidelines related to COVID-19. The form can be found on the and will soon be added to the Internship Manual and Forms page on the Student Success & Career Development website: http://oiaac.com/ccpd/internships-professional-experiences. Faculty advisors are instructed to keep the forms on file (electronically preferred) for three years after the student graduates or leaves Otterbein.
